Tower was not a company that started overnight. After the online store was launched and sales were rising, the company was selected on a prime-time TV show called “Shark Tank”. The idea was to pitch the concept to the panel of potential investors. The show aired in 7/2011 and Mark Cuban (investor) offered $150k for a 30% stake in Tower Paddle Boards.
The deal closed in 11/11 and since then, business has tripled in the last year and the company is currently on pace to do $1.5M in sales for 2012. Stand-up paddle boarding is not just a sport; it’s a lifestyle which makes Tower a lifestyle company by design. Basically, SUP is surfing, but evolved.
